We recently spent three nights at the Last Chance Lakehouse in Hessel, Michigan. It was a beautiful home located across the street from he north shore of Lake Huron in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. The house had everything we needed including bikes!
Hessel is a very small town with an active harbor, two restaurants, a small store, and a place to get ice cream. We had one dinner at the Islander Bar and tried to eat at a restaurant at the Les Cheneaux Culinary School, but no reservations were available.
Hessel is a great place to relax and enjoy the outdoors with an abundance of nature hikes, bike routes, and drives available. My favorite spot to visit was the Birge Nature Preserve on Mismer Bay. Plus, just hanging out on the porch at the Lakehouse was phenominal!
We hope to return to Hessel to attend the Aldo Leopold Festival.
