Wow! Spring has arrived and the birds are busting out their brightest and most vibrant colors of the year. We had our first visit by a migrating Palm Warbler (Setophaga palmarum) since the spring of 2019. He arrived on April 26 and was seen on a service berry bush next to the house as well as on various low tree branches in the woods.
Our pair of Eastern Bluebirds (Sialia sialis) has taken up residence in a nest box in the northwest corner of our yard. This pair has four eggs which the female began incubating on April 28. Bluebirds incubate their eggs for 11-19 days before they hatch. This is the first time we've had bluebirds nesting at Hogsback Acre.
